As long as you're discreet, no-one normally minds if you have a beer on the beach as, say, part of a picnic. In the street and city squares etc., it's different. Officially, Spanish law forbids 'botellones', i.e. impromptu booze sessions in public spaces. The centre of the beach has a less rocky and more gravelly waterline, but it's advisable to wear slip-on neoprene beach/swimming shoes with soles.
