Sorry, but there weren’t any cafes or such stopping places at the start. Probably best to find a meeting place somewhere in the city and drive out from there.
do we need 4-wheel drive or snowchains for the drive?

Hi. It was clear the day we went. I would think chains if you're driving in the snow. They were quick with plowing, and had closed the road up the day before because of snow.
How steep are the drop offs to the sides of the Mt. Lemmon hwy? Does it scare people who are afraid of heights? Esp those that freak out at steep dropoff. Thx.

You are at 9000 ft. at the to. Very steep however, serious guard rails all the way. On the way up is easy, and going down is all safe with the guard rails. Don’t forget the pizza/cookie …
